Our exciting news is that as we embark on the tenth issue of textualities.net, we are set to launch two new issues of Textualities print magazine at Word Power independent bookshop in Edinburgh on Valentine´s Day. Both are beautifully illustrated by Magda Boreysza.
In 'Science and Intuition', writers of fiction, science and the uncharted territory in between have come together in a collection full of insights and speculations. There´s a highly atmospheric extract from Rajorshi Chakraborti´s second novel and fascinatingly quirky vignettes by Sam Meekings on ÔThe Secret Lives of the VictoriansÕ. The magazine also includes the first publication in the UK of ÔWhale TaleÕ by Lawrence Krauser, an original and hugely funny writer (see links section for clips from his new film, Horrible Child). There´s poetry from Mark O´Connor, interviews with biodiplomat Iain Orr, novelist Maria Hyland and poet Mark O´Connor. Features from Hannah Adcock, Daniel Silver, Fiona Allen, Kate Robinson and David Walton, range in subject from utopias, to the toy-making of James Clerk Maxwell, to parapsychology.
'In Place' includes interviews with Palestinian writer and human rights activist Raja Shehadeh, Australian novelist Kate Grenville, and with Irish writer Michael Faulkner. It contains poetry by Anita Govan, Tony McManus, Daryoush Momenpour and Dilys Rose, and fiction from Rajorshi Chakraborti, Nick Holdstock and Selina Hussain. Hannah Adcock visits an exceptionally well-appointed gentlemen´s loo in Rothesay and Morelle Smith dreams of the mountains of Languedoc, which are imbued with history and legend.
Our new online issue opens with new fiction by Svetlana Lavochkina and Catherine McDonald.
