Textualities covers diverse aspects of the world of the book, from author interviews and original writing to specialist articles about rare and collectable books. textualities.net is a free resource which grew out of Scottish Book Collector magazine, as well as introducing new material, including audio. Textualities was actively updated until about 2015, and now provides a valuable archive – including original audio recordings of authors.
Textualities has existed in three main versions – which can be seen on the Wayback Machine using the links below.
- The original site was designed using php and custom css by the Graphics Company in January 2005 and contains material from Scottish Book Collector from the 1990s onwards.
- In 2008 the site was migrated to WordPress by Mike Norman. Its Flash audio player was no longer supported by about 2018.
- In January 2025, for it’s 20th anniversary, Textualities got a fresh new look, support for mobile devices and secure browsing, and reinstatement of audio.
… and thanks to Dilys Rose who came up with the name.
